Obituary

Aversa Arlene Clark Mason, 88, of Waterville, passed away quietly on Thursday morning, February 24, 2011 at the Harding Nursing Home. She was born March 16, 1922, in Stockwell, the daughter of the late Harold and Louisa Flander Clark. On August 24, 1940, she married Morris Charles (Mott) Mason and they owned a family farm in Waterville for many years. He passed away May 6, 1979. Mrs. Mason also worked at the Waterville Knitting Mill for 13 years, Cheseboro Ponds in Oriskany Falls for 10 years and briefly worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton. Aversa loved family gatherings, being with her grandchildren, playing cards and shopping. She also enjoyed her trips to Florida with her daughter, Eloise. In later years, she loved her visits from family and friends and working jigsaw puzzles. Aversa is survived by a sister, Keitha Kelly of North Brookfield; six children and their spouses, Harold (Harley) and Brenda Mason of Waterville, Ronald and Sue Mason of Gorton Lake, Eloise and Claude Earley of Sangerfield and Titusville, FL, Connie and Alan Diehl of Waterville, Roger and Debbie Mason of Waterville and Robert and Luann Mason of Stockwell; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Chester and Richard; four sisters, Ariel Roe, Beth Warner, Lonnelle Kelly and Blythe Friedel; and a grandson, Kyle Diehl. The funeral will be Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville with Pastor Mark Thall officiating. Spring interment will be in Sangerfield Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday evening from 7-9. The family will host a reception following the funeral at the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the caregivers at the Harding Nursing Home and friend, Cindy Marriott. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider the Sangerfield Cemetery Association or the Kyle Diehl Scholarship Fund of the Brothertown Scholarship Fund. Finally Mom; please relax, your taxes have been paid.
