Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ford, 86, of Shanley Rd., Clinton, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born June 30, 1923, in Holland Patent, the daughter of the late George and Ella Tormey Marsh and was a graduate of Westmoreland Central School, Class of 1941. On September 5, 1942, at the Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills, she married Robert J. Ford. For over 28 years, Mrs. Ford was the County Executive Director of Oneida County ASCS/FSA, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Ford was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Clinton and was a member of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92 Auxiliary, Waterville, the Waterville Women's Club and the Kirkland Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed coordinating many trips for the seniors. Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whose life centered around her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, baking and was an avid sports enthusiast. She is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Robert; a son and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Kathleen Ford and Betty Ford, all of Clinton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce and Jack Paul of Hannibal and Patricia Sahl of Whitesboro; a brother, Gerald Marsh of Marcy; five grandchildren; Karen (Norm) Cook, Michael (Patty) Ford, Michele (Kelly) Adams, Kristen Ford and Kevin Ford; five great grandchildren, Natalie, Melissa, David, Josh and Cole; her in-laws, Edward Keim, Betty Barnes, Eileen (Jack) Shepherd, Ann Moriarty, Jim (Janis) Ford, Anne Ford and Eleanor Frost; and a special nephew, Chuck Ford, as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Ford, Jr.; two sisters, Delores Marsh and Elaine Keim; and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours are Monday evening from 4-8 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. The family wishes to extend a thank you to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., and her many caregivers and volunteers, whose help allowed her to stay in her home throughout her illness. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Berit Nelson, FNP and Betty Palaka, for their wonderful care and compassion.
