Obituary

Mrs. Betty Fiore Utica Mrs. Betty Fiore , 92, a lifetime resident of Gilbert street in East Utica, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care Center. She was born and educated in Utica, the daughter of the late Enrico and Marie Persechino Ascanio. On may 1, 1937, she married Patrick Fiore in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Mr. Fiore passed away on June 19, 2003. Betty was a hard working woman and was employed as a coil winder at General Electric for 36 years, retiring in 1983. She was the thirteenth person to be hired at the general electric radio receiver department when GE first opened. Betty's family was her life and she will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara lee of new York mills, her son and daughter-in law, Carl and Annette Fiore, North Utica; five grandchildren, Carla and Sean Ryan, of Whitesboro, Edward and Alyssa Lee, of Madison, Wisconsin, Patrick and Tracy Fiore of Clifton Park, New York, Lawrence and Noelle Fiore of Southington, CT, and Deanna Zegarelli-Pecheone and Carl Pecheone of New Hartford; 14 great-grandchildren, Matthew Ryan, Olivia Lee, Antonia, Carl, Nina, Cristina, Samantha, Nicholas, Carlo, Bianca, and Victoria Fiore, Juliana Zegarelli, Thomas Zegarelli and Christopher Pecheone; her sister, Annette Amendolare of Frankfort; and her sister-in-law, Carmella Scanio of Utica. Betty was predeceased by her son-in-law, Deacon John Lee; her grandson, Daniel Patrick Ryan; her sister, Ida Scanio; her brother, Ralph Scanio; sisters and brother-in laws, Caroline and John Derocco, Angie and Joe Moore, Tillie and Roy Simonette, and Patrick Amendolare. She leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephes, great great nieces and nephews, in the Utica, Frankfort, Syracuse and CT Area. Betty's family extends a special thank you to Aunt Carm Scanio for all the wonderful and thoughtful deeds she did for their mother. The Fiore family acknowledges the prompt and professional response of the Utica Fire Department EMTs, the emergency room at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital, and to Drs. Jane and Sampson Pachikara. Family and friends are invited to attend Betty's Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 16, 2010n at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. There will be no calling hours. The Fiore family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass Arrangements are under the guidance of Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Road, Utica/New Hartford.
