Carmella Anne (Greco) Pettinato, 87, of Utica, entered into eternal life on Saturday August 14, 2010 at the Masonic Care Community, after a seven year illness. She was born July 16, 1923, in Utica, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Angelina DeFazio Greco. She received her education at Brandegee Grammer School and T.R. Proctor High School. On June 22, 1946, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica, she married Peter Pettinato. He passed away August 26, 1995. For 17 years, Mrs. Pettinato was employed as a cafeteria aide for Saga Foods at the Utica college Cafeteria. Carmella was very devout Catholic with a strong devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. She loved her "boys" and enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Francis and Regina Pettinato of Marcy, Peter and Susan Pettinato of Rochester and Robert Pettinato of Utica; a sister, Jessie Durdan of Clinton; a brother, Joseph Greco of New Hartford; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Sarah and Edward Topi of Utica and Marqarite Pettinato of Utica; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Congetta Madden and Rose Chiarello; and her inlaws, Theresa Luckey and Salvatore, Anthony and Fred Pettinato. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 am from the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford and 10 am from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours are Monday evening from 4-7 at the funeral home.
