Obituary

Charles T. (Chuck) Budlong, 81, of Waterville, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010. Born in Utica on December 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Leslie and Helen VanNort Budlong. On February 4, 1950, at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville, he married the former Alice Way, with whom he shared 60 years of a loving and cherished relationship. Chuck worked at Eastern Rock Products, served as supervisor for the Town of Marshall Highway Department, served as a councilman for the Town of Marshall, and retired as a salesman from American Asphalt in 1996. Chuck will always be remembered as a great husband and father who was always there for what he considered his "four girls". He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; three daughters and a son-in-law, Judy and Gary Kingsbury of Waterville, Jean Budlong of Utica and Darla (Toad) O'Brien of Waterville, as well as her husband, Patrick O'Brien who predeceased him; two grandchildren, Charles T. Kingsbury of Waterville and Melissa Kingsbury and her fiancé Jerry Ray of Waterville; one great granddaughter, Leeanne Ray of Waterville; one sister-in-law, Catherine Budlong of Waterville; his close friend, Raymond VanHyning of Oriskany Falls; and many nieces and nephews, whom he shared a close relationship with. He was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 5-7 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. Services will be at the convenience of the family.
