Christopher R. (Chris) Hocking, 32, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 22, 2010 at his home. He was born July 19, 1978, in Utica, the son of Ronald and Pamela Foster Hocking. Chris was a graduate of the Waterville Central School, Class of 1997 and attended MVCC. At one time, Chris was employed at the Sitrin Health Care Center in New Hartford and was later employed with APAC in Utica. Chris was a devoted and very loving son, father, brother, grandson and uncle. He loved life and enjoyed making people smile and laugh. Chris also loved music and enjoyed camping, dirt bike riding and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, his son, Tyler Christopher Hocking of Utica; his mother and step-father, Pamela and Gerald Cutway of Hubbardsville; his father and step-mother, Ronald and Patty Hocking of Frankfort; his sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Brian Hanna and their son, Riley of Utica; three brothers, Derrick Lawrence of Hamilton, Dannie Lawrence and his son, Robert of Earlville and Ryan Hocking of Frankfort; his maternal grandmother, Maronetta Foster of Utica; his paternal grandparents, Russell and June Hocking of Ilion; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his sons mother, Jennifer Collea. Chris was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Howard Foster, Sr.; and his step-father, Ron Schuessler. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 am at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Wilton Rose officiating. Interment will be in Sauquoit Valley Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday evening from 4-7.
