David Norwin Koon, 60, of Waterville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. A lifelong resident of New York, he was born November 4, 1949 in Syracuse, a son of the late James Koon and Frances Potter Koon Martin. He was a graduate of Liverpool High School, Potsdam State College and Syracuse University with a degree in Medical Technology. For the past five years, David has lived a wonderful and joyous life at the Schoolhouse Apartments in Waterville, of which he has made many friends. He was a lifelong Syracuse Orangemen fan, long before they became "the orange" and would have been ecstatic that they beat Georgetown. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Rodney Lowery of Madison and Sharon and Pastor Douglas Cowburn, II of North Las Vegas, NV; a son, Jacob Koon of Malone; four grandchildren, Nicole and Jackson Lowery and Brian and Zachary Cowburn; a sister, Kathy Jaffee of Santa Rosa, CA; his life long partner, Lois O'Brien of Waterville; and Lois's children, Norman, Frank, Edward and Kevin Bommarito. Relatives and friends are invited to a porch party to be held Friday at 4 PM in the fellowship hall of Southgate Ministries on Main St. in Waterville. Arrangements are with the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, Waterville.
