David E. Tallman, 58, of Oriskany Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at University Hospital, Syracuse, after a courageous battle with cancer and complications from the chemotherapy that he had to have. He was born September 13, 1950, in Utica, the son of Frank W. and Beverly Colman Tallman. After graduation from Oriskany Falls Union Free School, he spent four years in the US Navy. For 31 years, David worked at SUNY Morrisville, retiring in January of 2008. He was a lifetime member of the Kelley-Phillips American Legion Post #569. David's favorite pastime was watching NASCAR races and sitting on the corner reading his newspaper and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed reading, putting together models, fishing and target shooting. Besides his parents of Oriskany Falls; he is survived by two sisters, Bethany (Allan) Winner of Lakeland, FL and Debra (Richard) Barnes of Waterville; four brothers, Barry (Jean) of Oriskany Falls, Douglas of Ocean Springs, MS, Terrance (Rose) of Nicholasville, KY and Brian (Teresa) of Waterville; one uncle; several aunts; many cousins; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, Frank Scott. In keeping with David's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are with the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, Waterville.
