Doris E. Sonia, 87, of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, August, 5, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home, with her family by her side. She was born July 31, 1922, in Waterville, the daughter of the late Ralph W. and Irene Morgan Eastman. She was raised by her father and late stepmother, Lena and was a graduate of Waterville Central School. Mrs. Sonia was an inspector and tester with Univac in Utica and later with Partlow Industries in New Hartford. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waterville. She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Arlene and Richard Wilkolaski of CA, Richard and Diane Sonia of NC, Leonard and Sandie Sonia of Oriskany Falls, Bob and Karen Sonia of Waterville, Ed and Debbie Sonia of FL, Rena and Pat Stettner of TX and Debbie Torchia of Waterville; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, H. Russell and Peg Eastman of Durhamville, Hubert Eastman of Waterville and Edith Eastman and Nancy Eastman, both of Deansboro; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Bob, Paul and Arnold Eastman; and two sisters, Hazel Weaver and Norene Recor. Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, Waterville with Pastor Genett Timlin officiating. Interment will be in Waterville Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
