Obituary

Edward J. (Inchie) Ruane, 85, of Stockwell, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home. He was born June 7, 1924, in Sangerfield, the son of the late John and Kate Hayes Ruane and was a graduate of Waterville Central School. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. On November 16, 1946, at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville, he married Emma Jane (Dottie) Bartlett. For over 40 years, Inchie was employed as a dispatcher for the Cherry Valley Oil Co./Mohawk Valley Oil Co., retiring in 1986. He was a 50 year plus member of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92 and was an honorary member of the Waterville Fire Department. Inchie is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Dottie; three children and their spouses, John (Jack) and Darcey Ruane of Waterville, Colleen and Nick Palmer of Glendale, AZ and Mark and Sue Ruane of Waterville; a sister, Mary Woodhouse of Waterville; nine grandchildren, Bridget, Mary Kate, Shannon, Mandy, Kara, Courtney, Christopher, Nicole and Emily; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Reilly; and three brothers, Owen, Robert and Leo Ruane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 am at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville. Interment with legion honors will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 5-8 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. Members of the American Legion Post #92 will meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 7 pm.
