Obituary

Edward J. Quinn, 92, of Clinton, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY. He was born January 23, 1921 in Utica, the son of the late Carroll and Rose Albicker Quinn. He was a graduate of Perry High School, Niagara University and received his Master's degree from Colgate University. Mr. Quinn was a US Navy veteran of WW II. On July 18, 1959, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, he married Dolores Kloster. Mr. Quinn was a teacher with the West Canada Valley Central School District. He later worked in the casualty department at Utica Mutual Insurance. Mr. Quinn again returned to teaching, retiring from the Whitesboro Central School District. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Clinton, was a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post #1376 and was a former parishioner of St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro. Ed loved skiing, hiking, fishing and spending time in the Adirondacks. He also loved traveling and was an avid reader. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; a daughter, Rosemary Quinn of Avon, CO; two sons, Christopher Quinn of Denver, CO and Edward Quinn of Avon, CO; a granddaughter, Yekaterina Kane-Quinn of Denver, CO; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Rita Quinn of Utica; in-laws, Joanne Quinn of Penn Yan, Barbara Jones of Chittenango, Francis and Beverly Kloster of New Hartford and Rev. George Kloster of Murphy, NC; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Rose, Margaret and Patricia; and a brother, John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30 am at St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Forestport. A calling hour will be held Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the church, prior to the Mass. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.
