Elizabeth H. (Betty) Jones, 91, of Waterville, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Lutheran Care Home, with her family by her side. Betty was born May 7, 1919, in Machynlleth, Powys, Mid Wales, the daughter of the late Thomas and Olwen Davies Leek. She was raised and attended schools in Blaenau, Ffestiniog, North Wales. There, Betty met and married David E. Jones on May 27, 1944. In 1948, they immigrated to America, settling in Waterville. Betty worked at the Waterville Central School District as Treasurer and Accounts Clerk for 26 years, retiring in 1984. Together she and Dave enjoyed their retirement til his passing in 2000. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waterville, where she served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. She was also a proud member of the St. David's Society of Utica and sang in the St. David's choir for 22 years. Betty is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Craig Deans of Clinton, Iola and Terry Idzi of Waterville, Glenys and Richard Williams of Cazenovia and Megan and Joel Gelb of Downingtown, PA; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jillian Gelb of Downingtown, PA, Alecia Gelb of Atlanta, GA, Ann and Dennis Bushneck of Cazenovia, David and Kirsten Idzi of Chapel Hill, NC and Barry and Alyson Deans of Seattle, WA; two great-grandchildren, Calvin Idzi and Isabell Bushneck; and many nieces and nephews in England, Wales and the United States. Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by her grandson Robert Deans. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 am at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Ed Townsend officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 10-11, prior to the service. "We will miss you, Nain."
