Ellen R. Samuels, of White Plains, NY, formerly of New Hartford, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023 in White Plains, NY.

She was born June 5, 1926, in Bronx, NY, the daughter of George Cherr and Clara Friedman Cherr. She was a graduate of Evander Childs High School and Syracuse University. She was a former member of Temple Beth El in Utica, where she served as Secretary and a trustee. Ellen was a life member of Hadassah.  She was an avid sportswoman excelling at tennis, golf, and bowling, and a life-long fan of the New York Giants and Mets.

Ellen is survived by her three sons, David (Melanie), of New Rochelle, Paul (Nurit Margulies), of New York City, and Ronald (Laurie Cohen), of Eastchester; her six grandchildren, Sarah (David Zalcmann), Stephanie (Michael Carniol), Adam, Rachel, Julie, and Brian; her five great-grandchildren, Owen, Joseph, Cayla, Madeline, and Chloe; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Ellen was predeceased by Allen H. Samuels, her husband of 65 years, and her sister, Arline Friedman.

The funeral will be Friday, August 11 at 10 am at the Mark C. Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford, with Rabbi Gustavo Geier and Cantor Kalman Socolof officiating. Interment will be in Temple Beth El Cemetery, Whitesboro.
