Gertrude I. Wright, 90, of West Edmeston, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. She was born October 17, 1919, in West Edmeston, the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Bice Gilbert and was educated in Leonardsville schools. On February 29, 1940, in Richfield Springs, she married Alonzo E. Wright, a loving union of 61 years. He passed away July 4, 2001. For many years, Mrs. Wright was employed with Mele Manufacturing in Utica. She was a member of the West Edmeston Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Thomas Lyman of Wampsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Wright of Cassville; ten grandchildren, Thomas Lyman, Patricia Lefler, Stephen Lyman, Paul Lyman, Crystal Chapple, Jodi Hawes, Robert Wright, Jr., Kimberly Stillman, Melissa Wright and Terrance Wright; 22 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a special friend and caregiver, Mary Cota; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Gilbert and Louise Penner. The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Donald Buck officiating. Spring interment will be in Waterville Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday from 12-2, prior to the service.
