Obituary

Harry Nemeroff, 92, formerly of 10 Mill Street, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Sitrin Health Care Center. He was born November 22, 1922, in New York City, the first child of Dora and William Nemeroff. His mother emigrated from Russia and his father was also of Russian decent. Harry lived with his mother until he was 15 years old when he and his younger brother, Bernard moved to the Hebrew Orphan Asylum. Harry lived in several residential care settings throughout New York State, most recently residing at the Mill Street IRA. Harry enjoyed nature, outdoors at the park and in particular enjoyed bird watching. He also liked to listen to music and watch movies, especially Star Wars films, with his favorite character being Yoda. He liked living at the Mill Street IRA and appreciated the opportunity to reconnect to his Jewish roots by participating in Seders and Hanukkah celebrations. On Harry's behalf, a thank you is extended to all his care givers throughout the years, with special thanks to the Mill Street IRA, the entire staff of unit 3C at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Dr. Kevin Mathews, for their attentiveness, genuine concern and compassion. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 12 noon at House of Israel Cemetery, Wood Road, Whitesboro, with Rabbi Cassi Kail officiating. Arrangements are with the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., New Hartford.
