Mrs. Helen M. Sergent, 77, of State Rte 315, Waterville, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010, at her home. Born March 2, 1932 in Munnsville, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mildred Billings Perry. Helen attended Morrisville schools, the Utica School of Beauty Culture, and S.U.N.Y. Oswego. She taught cosmetology at Utica Free Academy, Herkimer B.O.C.E.S. and the Oneida-Madison B.O.C.E.S., until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waterville. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mac and Jackie Sergent of Georgetown, Duane and Kathy Sergent of Rockville, VA and Kevin Sergent of Waterville; one daughter and son-in-law, Valorie and Charles Greer of Stafford, VA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Shirley Perry of Cazenovia and Frederick and Cherie Perry of Knoxboro; one sister and brother in-law, Doris and Kenneth Howlett of Bangs, TX; five grandchildren, Maggie and Ryan Greer of Stafford, VA, Christopher Sergent of Georgetown, Brandi Goike of Georgetown, and Mark Sergent, of Louisa, VA; two great grandchildren, Autumn and Summer Sergent of Georgetown; several nieces and nephews; and a cherished family friend, Christine Ames Hoke. She was predeceased by her husband, C. Ernest Sergent; a daughter, Brenda Sergent; a granddaughter, Meghan Kate Sergent; a brother, Charles Perry; and a sister, Mary Ellen Coleman. Friends are invited to call at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, on Saturday from 4 to 6 pm, followed by a brief funeral service officiated by Pastor Genett Timlin. Spring interment will be in Knoxboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92, 8083 Route 20, Sangerfield, following the funeral.
