Hilda L. Kurtelawcz, 96, of New Hartford, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY, with her family by her side. She was born May 17, 1916, in New Hartford, the daughter of the late James and Lena Smith Cole and was educated in New Hartford schools. In Olivet Prebyterian Church, Utica, she married William Kurtelawcz. He passed away in 1975. For many years, Mrs. Kurtelawcz was a bookkeeper with Gold Top Bakery in Utica until her retirement. She was a member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Church. Hilda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family, cook, bake and was the best mother-in-law one could ask for. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, LeRoy Marsden of Marcy and William and Irene Kurtelawcz of Whitesboro; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Kurtelawicz and Kay Kurtelawicz, both of Utica; seven grandcildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kurtelawcz was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Carol Marsden; four brothers, Reginald, Leland, Edwin and Robert Cole; and two sisters, Edna Jones and Lydia Lindsay. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Monday evening at 7 o''clock at the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Road, Utica/New Hartford, with Rev. Stephen Melton officiating. Private interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7, prior to the sevice. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the Presbyterian Home for Central NY, especially the Willow Unit, for all their wonderful care and compassion.
