Obituary

Jean B. Kimball, 67, of Waterville, passed away October 15, 2010, at her home, with her loving family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Jean B. Marsh on January 18, 1943, in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of Grace Marsh. At a young age, along with her family, she moved to New York. In early 1957, she met her future husband Lawrence H. Kimball and they were married April 11, 1959 in Utica. In 1980, they moved to their current home on Osborne Avenue in Waterville. In 2000, Jean retired from the Presbyterian Home for Central NY in New Hartford, where she worked in housekeeping or over 30 years. Jean loved the every other weekend camping trips that she and her husband would take to Lake Delta in Rome. Fishing, gardening and growing many types of beautiful flowers in her yard were only a few of the outside activities she enjoyed. Jean loved to organize family get togethers where her children, grandchildren and friends would attend. Many milestone moments took place at their home in Waterville, which Jean was more than happy to host. She will be greatly missed by all who had the experience of knowing her. Her passing will leave a large void in the lives of the people who loved her most, but she will never be forgotten. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry; five children and their spouses, Jean and Wayne Doane of Bridgewater, Jenny and George Switzer of Leonardsville, George and Sandra Kimball of Oriskany Falls, Barbara Maine of Bridgewater and James and Katherine Kimball of Bridgewater; her former daughter-in-law, Patricia Lindsley of Taberg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends; and she will also be missed by her loving companion "Spanky", her 12 year old pug who stayed by her side until her passing. She was predeceased by her oldest son, Lawrence H. Kimball, Jr., who also lost a battle with cancer. Committal services will be Tuesday at 10 am at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 am at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Genett Timlin officiating. There are no calling hours. The family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for all their help and kindness throughout this trying time.
