Joel M. (Joe) Galinn, 75, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. He was born October 10, 1937, in Utica, the son of the late Edward and Clara Bachman Galinn and was the brother of the late Barbara Galinn Schneider. Joel was a graduate of UFA, Class of 1955 and was a US Army veteran. On January 20, 1962, at Temple Beth El, Utica, he married Florence S. Eisenstadt. At one time, Mr. Galinn was employed by Wolfe News Service and later managed Neba Roastbeef. For many years, Joel was a self employed entrepreneur. He was a member of Temple Emanu-El and was past President of its Men's Club, where he was well known for the Men's Club breakfasts he put on. Joel most enjoyed time spent surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Florence; three sons, David and Brenda Galinn of AZ, Steven and Patricia Galinn of New Hartford and their two children, Brendan of Rochester and Taylore of New Hartford and Brad Galinn of Clinton; a brother-in-law, Dr. Irving Schneider and Lucille Kall of FL; and a sister-in-law, Norma Uziel of FL. Joel is also survived by several nieces and nephews, especially Jennifer Schneider-Oh and Tracy Schneider-Schilperoort. Graveside services will be Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Wood Road, Whitesboro, with Rabbi Cassi Kail officiating. The family will receive visitors on Monday following the service until 8 pm and Tuesday from 1-5 pm at their home, 143 Kensington Drive, Utica. The family was very blessed to have the devoted love and care of Deanna Guidera and would also like to thank Joel's many special friends who remained committed to him thoughout his illness. They also want to thank Dr. Naji El-Khoury and Dr. Sultana Razia, as well as their entire staffs, for their wonderful care and compassion.
