With profound sadness, we share the passing of John Henry Gold, on May 11, 2026, in New Hartford, New York. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends

John was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 7, 1950, and raised in Levittown, a hamlet of Long Island. He was the first born of four children to Allan Israel Gold and Rona (Hoffman) Gold. He is predeceased by his parents, which left John heartbroken at their loss. John was a loving brother to his sister, Sarah Gold; brother, Joshua Gold (Carol Gold); sister, Jacqeline Gold and a devoted uncle to four nieces: Galit, Batya, Marisa, and Whitney.

John had a remarkable talent for storytelling, with whimsical tales of Neverland, Munchkins, and Martians. His humor, imagination, and gentle teasing were a signature part of his character, and he never failed to make those around him smile. John will be remembered for his natural ability to infuse humor into the smallest interaction, such as his Donald Duck impression. John enjoyed dance therapy and would request the song, America, by Neil Diamond.

At home, John lovingly appointed himself as a doctor to care for those around him. John was truly a “doctor at heart” and would write prescriptions to spread love and happiness.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 15 at 2 pm at House of Israel Cemetery, Wood Road, Whitesboro, NY. Arrangements are with the Mark C. Bentz Funeral Service, Inc. 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford, NY.
