John D. Lloyd, 15, of New Hartford, passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. He was born in New Hartford on August 20,1998, the son of David and Susan (Lewis) Lloyd. He was a student at New Hartford High School, where he was a dedicated football player and track team member. At his church, John participated in the Alter Boy Society and the MYO. John was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan, and had just recently met the team after receiving his wish from the Make a Wish Foundation. He lived and breathed football, knowing more stats then anyone he came across. An avid deer and turkey hunter, John had success whenever he hunted. John was a loving young man, who had a way of touching everyone's heart. He was known for his huge hands, mighty grip, huge appetite and love of food, especially moms. During his illness, John stayed close to his dear friends by spending countless hours playing his Xbox; his giggle was contagious. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, David; sister, Jackie; Sito, Maureen Lewis; grandma, Marie Lloyd; uncles and aunts, Mike (Cheryl) Lewis, Roseanne (Vinny) Ciaccia, Luke (Anne) Lewis, Mark (Mireille) Lewis, Dan (Nina) Lewis, Pascale Lewis, Jeff (Mary Pat) Lloyd, Tom (Terry) Lloyd and Kathy Lloyd; and his many special cousins and close friends. He was predeceased and kept close to his heart, his godfather Joe Lewis II; and loving grandfathers, Jido Joseph Lewis and Pop Doug Lloyd. The family wishes to thank all the special staff at the Golisano Upstate Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation & Grantors, and the Buffalo Bills Organization. The Divine liturgy will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 9 a.m. at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger Street, Utica. Following the mass, the family will have a receiving line. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.
