Jon Allen, 42, of North Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Lowville, from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. He was born January 29, 1973, in Albany, the son of Patricia A. MacCasland and the late William M. Allen. Jon was a Master Mechanic for Centro Bus Company in Utica and was also a certified AC technician. Known for his bold and sometimes brash personality, he commanded respect from everyone he met. His heart of gold made it impossible for him to deny help to a friend in need. Jon's robust laugh and his bright smile will be greatly missed. Jon's zest for life included his complete devotion to and love for his son Nicholas. He also loved motorcycles, snowmobiles, hunting and his many friends. Although it was one of his favorite activities that took him from us, we cannot fault his passion for enjoying his life in his favorite ways; our only regret is that it took him from us far too soon. Jon, you are loved and will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure to know you. Jon Allen is survived by his son, Nicholas Allen of Utica; his mother, Patricia MacCasland, brother, Brian Mandara on his mother's side, step-father, Bill Snow, all of DeWitt; his brothers, Joseph, Mark, Kevin and William Allen, and his sister, Colleen Regan, all of the Albany area. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at the New Hartford First United Methodist Church, 105 Genesee Street, New Hartford, with Rev. Bradley D. Chesebro officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 pm at the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford and again on Saturday from 12-1:00 pm at the church.
