Joseph R. Beha, 88, of Waterville passed away on March 19, 2011 with members of his family by his side. He was born in Ava, NY on July 28, 1922, the son of the late Ambrose and Emma (Seiter) Beha. Joseph was a graduate of Waterville Central High School. He went on to graduate from the "C" Pre-meteorology Group of Amherst College and later completed an Associate's degree in Electrical Technology from MVCC. He served as a Corporal in the Army-Air Corps during World War II. On September 21, 1946, Joseph married Leonie Don Carlos, starting the dance of a lifetime. He was an employee of General Electric in Utica for over 25 years, working as an electronic technician. Joseph worked hard to provide for his family. He took great pride in his home, in being self-sufficient, and teaching those skills to his children. Throughout his life, Joseph was active in his church community. He played flute and piccolo and loved to sing. He was a member of the Saint John's Church choir for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed his family, traveling, gardening, music, and volunteering. With his wife, he volunteered for Harding Nursing Home for over 25 years, starting and running a program for basket weaving as well as providing assistance to residents and helping with music for weekly mass. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Leonie Don Carlos of Springfield, MA; children Joanne (Bob) Treen of Waterville, Laura (Bickford) Brannen of Southwick, MA, Leon Beha (Ross Garhartt) of Pattersonville, NY, Camilla Greene of Amherst, NY, James (Debbie) Beha of Marcy, NY, Karen (David) Wentworth of Scotia, NY; grandchildren Jennifer & Darren (Jessie) Treen, Marissa Greene, Chelsey & Kevin Wentworth, Ryan & Krysta Beha; great-grandchild Dillan Treen; and his sister Bertha (Beha) Rowley of Waterville.
