Judith Helen Schnier was born January 21, 1930, and died comfortably on June 4th, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Judy was born in Syracuse, NY, and grew up in DeRuyter, NY. She earned her B.S in Nursing while attending both Syracuse University and Binghamton University. She then earned her Master's in Public Health at the University of North Carolina. She married Arnold Schnier in 1963 and they were happily married for nearly 50 years.

Those who knew Judy, knew her as a hard worker, one who never sat down, dedicated to her family, never complained, never wanted for anything and was active until her final years. She enjoyed walking with her neighbors, yoga, and continued to garden and do her own yard work well into her eighties. She was so strong, until the very end, as well as very sweet and caring.

Judy was a proud Registered Nurse & educator in the Utica Public School System for many years. She was an avid gardener, loved cooking and baking, loved animals, especially birdwatching and cats, and was a supporter of the Humane Society and The United Jewish Appeal. Most of all, she enjoyed simply spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Wayne Greenberg), son, Alan (Melanie Francis), and grandchildren, Benjamin and Ayla Schnier.

Private services will be held at the Tifereth Zvi Cemetery.  Shiva will be observed at the Schnier family home on Friday, June 7, from 3 pm-7 pm.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to their aides who provided exceptional love and care for Judy.
