In loving memory of Karen Elaine Scarafile, of New Hartford, who passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024. Born February 23, 1944, in Utica, Karen was the daughter of the late Joseph Loomis and Margaret Loomis Magliocca. She attended local schools, received her degree in nursing from MVCC and also graduated from Oklahoma Bible College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital. In 1964, she married the late Daniel Scarafile. In 2011, Karen married Franics Paul Chacko.  Karen was cherished by her surviving husband Francis, her children, Tammy Scarafile DePerno, David (Jennifer) Scarafile, Darren (Diana) Scarafile and Nowel (Jeffrey) McMichael, and her stepson, Calvin (Tanya) Chacko.  Karen also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ashtyn, Casey (Kyle), Chelsey (Nathan), Landon, Richard (Summer), Brandon, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Douglas, Alexander, Benjamin, Noah, Aubree, Neena, Zach, Emma and Elijah and 3 great-grandchildren.

Karen had a passion for capturing life's beautiful moments through her photography, often finding inspiration in the smiles of her beloved grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit was fueled by a devout protestant and charismatic faith in Jesus Christ that was on display at both Redeemer Church in North Utica and the Curtiss Cornerstone Chapel in Little Falls.

Karen's greatest talent was her gift for giving presents. No holiday or birthday was complete without the numerous and meticulously wrapped presents.

In her passing, Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed; may she rest in eternal peace.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 3 at 10 AM in Childs Chapel at Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica with Paster Rodney Congdon officiating. Calling hours will be Friday, February 2, from 5-7 PM at the Mark C. Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, the family will except donations for a memorial in Karen's name to be established.
