On Saturday, April 12, 2014, Kevin Marc Gordon, 62, of New Hartford set sail after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. Kevin was born on February 13, 1952, in Utica, the son of Vida Gordon. He graduated from UFA and joined the Army. Upon his return, Kevin went back to school at MVCC and received an associate degree in psychology. On August 18, 1979, Kevin married Jackie Asaro, a union of 34 years. He retired from Centro as a diesel mechanic after 32 years and then worked for Birnie Bus Service in Utica. Kevin was an avid boater. His boat was his hobby and he spent many happy hours working and playing on it. Kevin is survived by his wife and first mate, Jackie, his mother, Vida (New York Mills); his children and ship crew, Kevin (Colorado), Christopher (Utica), David (New Hartford) and Karen (Norwich); brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Susie Gordon, (AL), Brian and Carrie Gordon (Ilion), Danny and Natalie Gordon (CA); sister and brother-in-law, Candy and Dan Wisnoski, (Utica). He is also survived by cherished grandchildren, Amelia, Michael, Kevin and Eric, many nieces and nephews, neighbor and good friend, Eileen Sue O'Donnell, New Hartford and walking partner, Jack Ryan, New Hartford. There will be no services as Kevin will not be anchoring his boat locally. Funeral arrangements are with Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd, Utica/New Hartford.
