Mr. Kim E. Harris, 53, of Waterville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 14, 2008 at his home. He was born June 4, 1954, in Utica, the son of Beverly Pryor Harris Hamm and the late Charles Harris, Sr. and was a graduate of Waterville Central School. Kim was a US Army veteran from 1977-1980. On October 16, 1993, in Waterville, he married Susan A. Shantal. For 25 years, Kim was employed with Covidian, formerly Tyco, in Oriskany Falls. Kim was a devoted son, husband, father and brother. He was an avid reader and talented craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, backyard camping with his son and collecting old family memorabilia. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his mother, Beverly; his son and best friend, Nathan; and his stepson, Chad Shantal, all of Waterville; his sisters and brothers and their spouses, Chuck, Jr. and Mary Harris of Waterville, Dale Harris of Waterville, Deborah and Robert Kutzuba of Freedom, NY, Scott and Lynn Harris of Denver, NC and Susan and Kevin Smeader of Cheektowaga, NY; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Shantal of Madison; two aunts; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be Friday at 10 am at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Donald Reese officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Waterville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Waterville Fire Department for all their valiant efforts.
