Obituary

The Wittenbeck and Trevisani families wish to share sad news with their friends, family, and the community that Laura Ann Wittenbeck, 57, of Waterville, New York, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 after her 13-year battle with cancer.  Her last days were spent surrounded by those she loved, and those who loved her.

Born on April 10, 1968, in Utica, New York, Laura was the beloved daughter of Dr. Gino and Arlene Trevisani. She grew up as the sixth of eight close-knit brothers and sisters.  Like all of her siblings, Laura strove for excellence in both academics and athletics.  Her path led her through graduation from Clinton High School and on to Marist College where she earned her bachelor's degree while carrying on her passion for sports as a member of the women's basketball team.

Returning to Waterville, Laura found the love of her life, Mike Wittenbeck.  The two married on December 31, 1998, starting the new year and the first of 27 years together as husband and wife.  Together, Laura and Mike raised their own family of three. Although Laura was able to build a successful career as an account executive and Assistant Vice President for NBT Insurance, her children were her biggest accomplishment and joy of her life.  Her colleagues remembered her for her work ethic, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to her clients and colleagues.

A woman of generous spirit and deep compassion, Laura served as Past Board Chair for Make-A-Wish of Central New York, dedicating her time and leadership to bringing hope and joy to children and families in need. Even while battling cancer Laura drew others to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.  She touched so many lives.

Laura was predeceased by her father, Dr. Gino Trevisani; her father-in-law, Donald Wittenbeck; and her sister, Jeanne Miller.  She is survived by her husband, Mike Wittenbeck; her daughters, Sophie and Megan; and her son, Jimmy.  She is also survived by her mother, Arlene Trevisani; her mother-in-law, Joan Wittenbeck; her sister-in-law, Donna Wittenbeck; and her six siblings, Mary Gina (Scott) Ratchford, of West Hartford, CT, Gino (Kim) Trevisani, of North Hero, VT, Arlene (Todd) Ferri, of Little Falls, Tom (Alyssa) Trevisani, of Deansboro, Karen (Mark) Livesey, of Ava, and Christopher Trevisani (Becky), of Baldwinsville.  Laura had a unique and special bond with her Godmother, Joanne Donnaruma Wade, who will miss Laura dearly; as will her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends and work family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard's Church in Waterville, New York, on Friday, March 13, at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at a later date in Waterville Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Thursday, March 12, from 4-7 pm at the Mark C. Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford, New York.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the cancer unit at Bassett Healthcare in Herkimer, New York, and to the compassionate staff of The Abraham House in Rome, New York, for their exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura's memory may be made to The Abraham House at theabrahamhouse.org (http://theabrahamhouse.org/).
