Lawrence R. "Larry" Williams, Sr., 70, of Utica, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the St. Luke's Home. He was born January 13, 1945, in Utica, the son of the late Lawrence and Thelma "Peggy" Flaherty Williams and was educated in Utica schools. For 40 years, Larry was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Utica D.P.W., retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Teamsters. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence, II and Alyssa and their daughter, Brooke, the apple of Larry's eye, of Endwell; seven brothers and sisters, Joanne of Buffalo, John of Buffalo, Wayne of Utica, Jackie of FL, James of Utica, Patricia of Utica and Kenneth of Schuyler Lake; and many nieces and nephews, especially Mark, John and Anthony Rodeo. Larry was predeceased by four brothers and sisters, Barbara, Thomas, Donna and Michael. A prayer service will be offered Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford, by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7, prior to the service.
