Lily A. Gigante, 93, formerly of New Hartford, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Raleigh, NC. She was born October 22, 1920, in Utica, the daughter of the late William and Natalia Makar Buornat and was a graduate of UFA. In 1945, in Utica, she married Dominick Gigante who passed in 1985. For many years, she was employed with General Electric in Utica. Mrs. Gigante was a former parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. Since 2002 she had been a resident of the Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community in Raleigh, NC. She is survived by four children, Richard Gigante (Cynthia) of Katy, TX, Judith Smith (George) of Oriental, NC, Frederick Gigante of Utica, NY and Edward Gigante (Julia) of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Dennis Gigante; brother, Mack Buornat; and sister, Bertha White. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside committal service on Saturday, May 10 at 10 am at Calvary Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica. There are no calling hours.
