Obituary

Linda Mae (Simmons) Tilbe, 62, of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home. She was born August 17, 1947, in Brookfield, the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Elizabeth (McConnell) Simmons and was a graduate of Brookfield Central School and the Utica School of Beauty Culture. On April 15, 1967, in the Village of Waterville, she married Charles J. Tilbe. Prior to raising her family, Mrs. Tilbe worked at the Alexander Hamilton Inn in Clinton and Chicago Pneumatic in Utica. Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing and growing flowers. She is survived by her husband, Charles; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian and Lisa Tilbe of Oriskany Falls and Jeffrey Tilbe of Lafayette, LA; three granddaughters, Kelsey, Courtney and Acacia; three sisters, Florence Burnett of Brookfield, Sharon Woolsey and Clint Abrams of Leonardsville and Pamela and Brian Witter of Leonardsville; her mother-in-law, Alice Tilbe of Waterville; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Carl Simmons, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Jack Burnett; and a sister-in-law, Laverne (Tilbe) Simmons. Services will be Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville with Pastor Ed Townsend officiating. Interment will be in Deansboro Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday from 2-4, prior to the service. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the Harding Nursing Home, for all their wonderful care and compassion shown to Linda over the years.
