Mrs. Mary Grace (Abiusi) Marchitelli, 94, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the St. Luke's Home where she had been a resident. She was born and educated in Utica, the daughter of Rocco and Luisa Vivenzo Abiusi. On April 3, 1938, she married Nicholas F. Marchitelli in St. Josephs and St. Patrick's Church. Mr. Marchitelli passed away on February 7, 1976. Mary Grace was employed at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for many years. Her family remembers her as a very religious, a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother and as a hard working and meticulous woman. Mary Grace is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel P. and Rosalie Marchitelli, Herkimer, and Nicholas F. and Janis Marchitelli, Chittenango; a daughter-in-law, Sylvia (Penny) Marchitelli, New Hartford; a sister, Dorothy Basi, Clearwater, FL; two sisters-in-law; Carrie Marchitelli and Delores Marchitelli, both of Utica; six grandchildren, Richard and Lisa Marchitelli, Dawn and Daniel Toczala, Gina and Dana Marchitelli, Christopher Marchitelli and Nicholas Marchitelli; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Grace was predeceased by two sons who always remained in her heart, Richard Marchitelli and Robert Marchitelli. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Sam and James Abiusi; and a sister, Josephine Spina. Family and friends may attend her funeral mass on Friday, October 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/ Blessed Sacrament Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Cesta. The Marchitelli Family will receive visitors in the church at the conclusion of the mass. There are no calling hours. Private interment will be in the family plot in St. Agnes Cemetery.
