Maude D. Martin, 88, of Sangerfield, passed away January 7, 2011 at the Harding Nursing Home, with her family by her side. She was born August 4, 1922, in Peterboro, the daughter of the late Gerald and Mildred Neville Davis. On March 24, 1940, in Waterville, Maude married Francis R. Martin. They shared a union of 50 years and enjoyed their senior years vacationing in Florida. Mr. Martin passed away January 4, 1991. For many years, Maude worked in the local Grand Union store. She was a member of St. Bernard''''s Church and belonged to the Waterville Senior Citizens and TOPS in Hamilton. Maude is survived by a daughter, Bernice Grosfent of Edmeston; a son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Sandy Martin of Sangerfield; a brother, William Davis of Peterboro; five grandchildren, Debbie and Dennis Grosfent, Denise Catoe, Wendy Gagliardo and Rick Martin; 14 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, John Grosfent on November 16, 2006 and a sister, Marion Bishopp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Bernard''''s Church, Waterville. Spring interment will be in St. Bernard''''s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday evening from 5-8 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. Maude''''s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Francis Chabot and his staff, along with the entire staff of the Harding Nursing Home for their professional and compassionate care extended to her.
