Maureen Levine Ruhm of New Hartford, NY passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2025, 12 days shy of her 70th birthday.

She was born at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas to Mary Alice Fleming Levine and Alexander Levine.  Maureen was a graduate of New Hartford High School in 1973, SUNY Oswego in 1977, and received her master's degree from SUNY Cortland.  She was married to late Robert R. Ruhm for 36 years.

Maureen's proudest accomplishment was as a dedicated high school English teacher in the Holland Patent School District from 1993-2020.  She loved and was loved by her many students; and she took pride in their accomplishments.

Her interests included traveling, kayaking, and skydiving.  Later in life, she enjoyed taking piano lessons, especially playing the greats, such as Bach and Beethoven.  Being a devoted animal lover, she enjoyed time with her pets throughout her lifetime, especially with her cat, Sterling, and dog, Corporal.

She is survived by her stepson, Robert Ruhm of Georgia; her siblings, Patricia (Chris) Liuzzo of Sand Lake, NY, Kathleen (John) Slattery of Stillwater, NY, and Stephanie Levine of Concho, AZ; sister-in-law, Allison (Jack) Jones of New Hartford; and nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her mother; her in-laws; and very dear friends, Jean Parr Andrello, Jeff Zanni, and Larry Fitzgerald.

Per Maureen's request, there will be no service or calling hours.  A friend's gathering will be held Sunday, September 7 from 12-3 pm at Props Inn, 144 Genesee Street, New Hartford.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen's name may be made to Spring Farm Cares (Animal and Nature Sanctuary - Spring Farm CARES).
