Muriel A. Lafferty, 92, of New Hartford, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015, as a longtime resident at the Presbyterian Home of Central NY. She was born January 15, 1923, in Utica, the daughter of the late William F., Jr. and Theodora Martin Lafferty. She was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy and received her BA degree from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD. For 40 years, Miss Lafferty worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Utica-Watertown, retiring in 1988. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a member of St. Elizabeth Hospital Guild. Muriel enjoyed traveling and listening to poetry. She is survived by two brothers, William F. Lafferty, III of New Hartford and James Lafferty of Tallmadge, OH; nieces and nephew, Amy (Rick Hansen) Bellman of Anchorage, AK, Sean (Joann) Lafferty of Erie, PA, Ellen (Greg) Hill of Buford, GA, Patricia (Tom) Serviss of New Hartford, Christine (Stan) Bradbury of Oakland, CA and Deana Lafferty of Marcy; and many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lafferty; nephew, Dan Lafferty; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Edna Lafferty. The funeral will be Saturday at 8:15 am from the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford and 9:00 am from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
