Obituary

Phyllis J. (Mitch) Plourde, 78, of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home. She was born July 28, 1930, in Clearfield, PA, the daughter of the late George and Elsie Kennedy Mitchell and was educated in Clearfield schools. Mrs. Plourde was a WAC with the US Army during the Korean War. On August 14, 1951, in Clearfield, PA, she married Louis A. Plourde. He passed away May 31, 2006. Mrs. Plourde was employed at McLaughlin's Department Store and later at the Harding Nursing Home. Mitch was a member of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92. She is survived by a daughter, Gail Hartwig of Rochester; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan and Linda Plourde of Fairfax, VA, David Plourde of Front Royal, VA and Christopher Plourde of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, George Mitchell of NC and James Mitchell of PA; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Quentin, Holly, Kara, Brenton, Sarah and Christopher; her in-laws, Jean Madore of Waterville, Barbara Daly of Clinton, Gloria Buschor of Waterville, Doris and Duke Mosakowski of Waterville, Linda and John Beasman of Rochester, Suzette and Stan Walewski of Waterville, Thomas and Shirley Plourde of Floyd, Norman and Pansy Plourde of Waterville, Richard and Kathy Plourde of FL, Helen Plourde of Waterville and Frances Plourde of Utica; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Michael Belfield. Services will be Saturday morning at 9:30 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Rev. Thomas Servatius officiating. Interment with legion honors will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. A calling hour will be Saturday from 8:30-9:30, prior to the service. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Francis Chabot, Robert and Sandra Harding and the staff, friends and co-workers at the Harding Nursing Home, for all their wonderful care and compassion.
