Rhealu Greene passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024 at the age of 101. She was born in Utica, NY on January 4, 1923 to Harry and Rose Greene. She lived in Utica for over 90 years and always considered that city to be "home". More recently,  Rhealu became a resident of the Massry Assisted Living facility in Albany, NY to be closer to family. She and her family members greatly appreciated the care and compassion provided by the entire Massry staff.

Rhealu was an exceptional and multifaceted individual. She was fiercely independent but had many dear friends. She was private, but gave generously of herself to so many individuals and organizations. She had a keen mind and an extraordinary wit, but was reserved and unassuming.  Rhealu's Jewish heritage was a source of great pride and devotion. She was a longtime, active member of both Temple Beth El and Congregation Zvi Jacob in Utica.

Rhealu's greatest love was reserved for her family. She was a selfless caregiver to her mother, Rose, and her sister, Ruth, who both predeceased her. She had an especially close bond with her younger brother, Merwin Greene, who also predeceased her in 2015. Merwin's sons - Warren, Michael, and David - were loved and treated as her very own. She maintained close ties and regular communication with all of her extended family and many friends.

This world is diminished by the loss of such a unique and giving person. You will be greatly missed, Rhealu. May you rest in peace, and may your memory be a blessing.

A graveside funeral service for Rhealu will be held at the Tifereth Zvi Cemetery on Wood Road in Whitesboro at 1:00PM on Thursday, November 21.
