Richard G. Northrop, 55, of Oriskany Falls, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Abraham House in Utica, with his loving mother by his side. Mr. Northrop was born and raised on Long Island, but his family has lived in the Waterville area since the 1880's. He moved to this area in 2002 after living and working with disabled adults and as a hair stylist on Long Island. Richard enjoyed the outdoors, animals, working with horses and spending time with his family, especially his devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is survived by his mother, Priscilla of Waterville; his sisters, Joan Jahosky of Altamonte Springs, FL, Lynne (Richard) Moore of Waterville and Darylene (Ed) Jenkins of Salisbury, MD; his brothers, John James (Janet) Northrop of Madison, Kevin Northrop of Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, Robert Northrop of Madison, Kenneth Northrop of Waterville and Gary Northrop of Port Charlotte, FL; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, John H. Northrop; and his sister, Ginger Winder. A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 2, 2009, at 1 o'clock at the West Brookfield Community Church, with Pastor Rick Catlin officiating. There are no calling hours.
