Obituary

Robert J. (Bob) Ford, Jr., 64, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, with his wife Betty at his side in the home that he built himself. He was born January 6, 1945, in Utica, the son of Robert, Sr. and Barbara Marsh Ford and was a graduate of Waterville Central School, class of 1963. In 1965, in Waterville, he married Betty Winslow, a loving union of 44 years. For many years, Bob owned and operated Ford Construction Company. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Clifford J. Fulmer Post #92 and the Deansboro-Waterville Lions Club. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He had a passion for the outdoors, construction, traveling, playing cards, feeding the birds and spending time with his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Norm Cook of Waterville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patricia Ford of Clinton; his parents, Robert and Barbara Ford of Clinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Kathleen Ford of Clinton; four grandchildren, Natalie and Melissa Cook and David and Joshua Ford; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Winslow and Annie of San Francisco, CA, Dotty Kohl and Thomas of Rochester and Marty Pogany and Daniel of Gales Ferry, CT; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a special cousin, Chuck Ford and his wife Mary. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Charles Winslow. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Bernard''s Church, Waterville. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 4-8 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff and volunteers of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., all the family friends that spent time with Bob during his illness and the greatest blessing of all, Dr. Francis Chabot. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
