Robert J. Shanne, 87, of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 8, 2011. He was born on August 8, 1924, in Utica, the son of the late Grazzio and Elizabeth Bradshaw Shanne. On September 24, 1949, in Rome, he married the former Marion E. Pelton. Robert served his country in the Army in WW II. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Marion; his sons, Darrel R. and his wife Carol of Yorkville and Bruce D. and his wife Valerie of Whitesboro; four grandchildren, Darcey Park and her husband Mike, Christopher Shanne, Jordan Shanne and his fiance'' Lindsay Ashton, and Dillon Shanne; two great grandchildren, Stephanie and Shanne Bulinski; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was predeceased by his step sister, Margaret Florentino. There will be no calling hours or services. Entombment will be private at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford.
