Mr. Rocco A. (Rocky) Zasa, 79, of Utica, owner and operator of Albany Body Works for over 50 years, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born in Utica, the son of Joseph and Anna Bifalco Zasa, and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On May 31, 1958, Rocco married Carol Burns in St. Mary's Church in Clinton, a blessed union of 51 years. Rocco was an auto body repairman and owned the Albany Body Works for over 50 years. He enjoyed eating out, traveling, and loved to hunt and fish. Rocco was a faithful communicant of St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rocco is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; four sons, Joseph Zasa and Darling Bowman, of Albion, Patrick Zasa and Vanessa Conkling, Rocco Zasa, Jr. and Tami Dacquino, and Michael Zasa, all of Utica; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Leo Abbott, of Utica, and Carmella and Joseph Abbott, of New York Mills; a brother, Saverio Zasa, of Utica; his in-laws, Joseph Tocco, of Frankfort, William and Leta Burns, Larry and Emiko Burns, and Betty Burns, all of New Hartford; his four grandchildren, Rocco Zasa, III, Patrick Zasa, Mitchell Zasa and Isabella Zasa; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Theresa Tocco. Calling hours for Rocco will be held on Saturday morning, January 2, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. by Father James Cesta. Private burial services will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery. Rocco's family is deeply appreciative of the care he received from the staff at St. Elizabeth's ICU and also to Sue Cooper.
