Obituary

Ronald Charles "Ron" Marsden, 79, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 29, 1945, in Utica, he spent his life in the region he called home.

Ron attended the New Hartford School District before embarking on a 30+ year career as a truck driver along the East Coast. His work took him to many places, allowing him to experience the open road and the changing landscapes of the country. His favorite route included campground stops for Wilcor International. On the road he was known as "mumbles" and "overeasy".

Beyond his career, Ron had a deep love for music and was known for playing the guitar. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, drawing, and sightseeing—pastimes that reflected his appreciation for both creativity and nature. Those who knew him will remember his great sense of humor and caring nature, qualities that brought joy to those around him.

Ron is survived by his ex-wife, Margaret Marsden; his children, Rodney (Janice) Marsden of Tennessee, Douglas (Liliana) Marsden of Virginia, Richard (Christine) Marsden of New York, Sandra (Gregory) LoGalbo of New York, and Chris (Kristin) Marsden of New York. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Michael (Linda) Marsden, Stephanie Marsden, Daniel Marsden, Zach Marsden, Alex Marsden, Meghan Staring, Larry Staring, Colby (Rebecca) LoGalbo, Anthony (Katie) LoGalbo, Marcus Marsden, Jeremy Marsden, Ty Marsden, Trinity Marsden, and Chase Marsden; as well as seven great-grandchildren. His brother Gary (Angie) Marsden and sister Tammy Marsden also survive him along with several nieces and nephews. Along with Margaret's eight siblings and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Betty Marsden; step-father, Jerry Skinner; his in-laws, Oliver and Helene Duff; his sister, Patricia (Wrana) Plumb; and brothers-in-law, Adam Wrana Sr. and Richard Plumb.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Wynn Hospital staff—especially those on the 8th floor—for their devoted care during Ron's time there. A special thank you is also given to Barbara, Nicholas, Brian, Scott, and Kelly LoGalbo for their love and laughter over the past 25 years.

In Ron's memory, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Per his wishes, there will be no services with private interment.  Arrangements are with the Mark C. Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., New Hartford.
