Rose Nassar, 97, a life-long resident of Utica, NY, passed away on September 4, 2024, hours before her 98th birthday.

Daughter of Louis J. Nassar and Ethel (Nahssen) Nassar, Rose was born in Utica on September 5, 1926. Following graduation from Proctor High School in 1944, she began 38 years of Federal service, initially as a civilian employee of the US Army, eventually retiring from the Social Security Administration in 1984.

Rose was dedicated to her family, caring as needed for her sister, parents and brothers in turn, and was beloved by her nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

In retirement, Rose had time to devote to her legendary garden, small but renown throughout her family, as well as developing an educated eye for antiques. Her collection of treasures amassed over the years brought delight not only to Rose, but to grand nieces and nephews allowed to play with antique toys with abandon.

Rose was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of the Rosary.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 10:30 am at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of the Rosary Campus, located at 1736 Burrstone Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family thanks Sharon Meyer, Roseanne George, Brandi Krecki, Kate Davis, Zumreta Hadzic, Emily Dahl, Zemira Sakanovic, Heather Lints, and so many more for the wonderful care they gave Rose in the final years of her life, as well as Dr. Scott Brehaut for his caring and thoughtful medical expertise.
