Obituary

Mrs. Rose (Tropea) Procopio, 91, a life long Utica resident and beloved mother of Maryteresa (Michael) Mezzanini, entered into eternal life on Monday, September 3, 2012, in the comfort of her home. She was born and educated in Utica, the daughter of Vincent and Maria La Porte Tropea. On June 22, 1946, Rose married Vincent C. Procopio, a blessed union of 59 years until his passing in 2006. Rose was employed as a dietary aide for 25 years at the Masonic Care Community and was a faithful parishioner of St. Agnes Church and most recently of St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved unconditionally. Rose is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Maryteresa and Michael Mezzanini, III, Utica; her grandchildren, Daniele and Joseph Marino, Michael Mezzanini, IV, and Vincent Mezzanini; her great-grandchildren, Giavanna, Joseph, Anthony and Christopher; extended family members, Rick and Mary Lourdes Cirasuolo, Phyllis Lynch, and Mary Ann and Joseph Secard; and two nephews, Vincent and Gary Tropea. Rose's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/ Blessed Sacrament Church by Father Jim Cesta. Private entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive visitors prior to the mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Rose's family is deeply grateful to her caregivers, Donna Redmond, Jamie Barbero and Rose Perez. Please omit floral offerings.
