Obituary

Rosemary Assaro, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 at the age of 97.

Rosemary was born in Utica, NY on October 27, 1927, the daughter of James Mariani and Margaret Spiridigliozzi.  One of five siblings, she grew up in Utica where she graduated from Proctor High School and then Beauty School.  She was married to John J. Assaro on August 26, 1950.  She dedicated her life to her family, always being there with a loving smile, comforting guidance, a warm embrace and a home-cooked meal.

Rosemary was a devoted member of St. Anthony's church.  She worked full-time as a wonderful mother and part-time as a beautician.  She enjoyed playing bridge with her closest friends and she learned to swim when her children were also learning to swim.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Joan Minieri (Anthony) of Syracuse, NY, Jill Jobbins (Richard) of Freehold, NJ and John N. Assaro of Lake Placid, NY.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Nicholas Minieri, John Minieri (Maggie), Matthew Jobbins (Maria), Stefanie Assaro, and Nicole Assaro; and six great-grandchildren, Rosemary, Emma, Isaac and Grace Jobbins, and Kai and Nico Minieri; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Mariani and Dolores Assaro; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, John; her sisters, Catherine and Joanna; and her brothers, Andrew and Thomas.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 13 at 10:00am at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in Utica, NY.  The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the Mass.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
