Shirley A. Dooley, 87, of New Hartford, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Waterville Residential Care Facility.
She was born November 23, 1935, in Utica, the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa Gigliotti Tomaino and was a graduate of Proctor High School. On August 25, 1956, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, she married John J. "Jack" Dooley, Sr. He passed away October 11, 2008. For many years, she was a receptionist for Dr. Russell Semeraro and later for Hospice & Palliative Care, retiring in 1989.
Shirley was a devout Catholic who openly shared her faith.
She is survived by three children, Patricia (Joseph) Panella of Marcy, Karen (Brion) Salatino of LaFayette and John, Jr. (Heidi) Dooley of New Hartford; eight grandchildren; Joseph Panella (and girlfriend Amy Gillen) of Las Vegas, NV, Daniel Panella of Marcy, Brion, Jr. (Amanda) Salatino of Venice, FL, Maria Salatino (and fiancé Brian Siebert) of the Catskills, Sarah ((Michael) Shea of Brewerton, Patrick Dooley of Paris, France, Kevin Dooley (Travis Collins) of Stanford, CT and Ciaria Dooley (and boyfriend Joe Perretta) of New Hartford; three great grandchildren, Sadia, Paisley and Trent Salatino; two sisters, Lillian Hajec of Utica and Bernice (Al) Stalker of Utica; her in-laws, Marilyn Richards of New York Mills and William Dooley of Whitesboro; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Sarah Cole, Ang Shaw and Jean Tomaino; and three brothers, Frank, Angelo and Richard Tomaino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 24 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church, Utica. The family will receive visitors after the Mass. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider having a Mass said at Holy Trinity Church in her memory.
