Stanley A. Pasiak, 82, of Egan Road, a dairy farmer and standardbred racehorse trainer and driver at Vernon Downs, died October14, 2008 at his beloved companion, Betty Palaka's home on Paris Hill. Mr. Pasiak was born in Utica on October 26, 1925 and moved to the Town of Augusta with his family when he was a boy. He attended Madison High School and took over the family farm at the age of 16 when his father, Karol Pasiak died in 1941. He continued dairy farming over the next 60 years hosting many polka barn dances. His purchase of the horse, Sassafrass, at Burton's Dairy Auction began a lifelong hobby of training and driving trotters and pacers, including the notable Freedom Barry and favorites Knight's Sis, Deo C, Alex C, and Roxy C. Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Pasiak-MacLeod of Lothian, MD and Christine Peppenelli, of Orange City, FL; their spouses; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Jennie Poremba Pasiak originally of Rome, and his mother, Pauline Kostera Pasiak. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 am at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Rev. Thomas Servatius officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8:30 pm and Saturday from 9-10, prior to the service.
