Alfred J. Verni, Jr. Utica Alfred J. Verni, Jr., 69, of Rutger St., passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at his home. He was born August 22, 1938, in Utica, the son of the late Alfred, Sr., and Mary Codispoti Verni, and was educated in Utica schools. Alfred was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John's Church. He is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Delores and Bob Reilly of Clearwater, FL, Corinne and Louis Drury of Clearwater, FL, and Ontario, NY, and Terri Callahan of Canastota, NY; three aunts and an uncle, Grace Mandich of Utica, NY, Carmen and Rudolph Gambino of New York, NY, and Maryann Verni of Albany, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10:30 at Historic Old St. John's Church, Downtown, Utica. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass in the church vestibule. Arrangements are with the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford.
