Josephine Roberts Obituary
Josephine M. "Josie" Roberts, 94, of Waterville, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the St. Luke's Home, with her family by her side.
She was born January 19, 1928, in Utica, the daughter of the late Ralph and Nancy Steppello Grillo and was a graduate of Proctor High School. On July 2, 1955, at Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica, she married Thomas E. Roberts. He passed away April 21, 1987.
She was a parishioner of St. Bernard's Church, Waterville and was a member of the Clinton VFW Post #9591 Auxiliary, the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232 Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.
Josie was deeply loved by her family and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Jace (Christine) Roberts of New Hartford; her daughter, Leslie (Jim) Rivenburgh of Waterville; two brothers, Dr. Marshall (Margara) Grillo of Lady Lake, FL and Henry Grillo of Utica; her sister, Maria Mazarello of Jupiter, FL; eight grandchildren, Jace Roberts, Jr., Derek Roberts, Brett Roberts, James Rivenburgh, Jr., Cher Salerno, Michelle Goodbread, Adam Gehringer and Andrew Gehringer; and nine great grandchildren, Julia Roberts, Madison Roberts, Reya Roberts, Ethan Austin Carpenter, Lillian Pauline Rivenburgh, Heather Salerno, Alyssa Salerno, Danny Goodbread and Briana Murphy. Josie was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Grillo, Jr. and her grandson, David Goodbread.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 16 at 1:00 PM at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Waterville. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
