Virginia (Algustowski) Beerhalter

Virginia Algustowski Beerhalter, 89 years old, of North Utica, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023. She was born in Utica on October 8, 1933, the daughter of Stefania and Alexander Algustowski.  She married her beloved husband, Raymond Beerhalter, and shared a loving and loyal union until his passing in 2008. 

Virginia worked as a bookkeeper at Horrocks- Ibbotson, W.T. Grants, and in her later years at Readers Island. 

Virginia enjoyed game shows, and playing cards with her grandchildren, which she thoroughly enjoyed when they visited.  She loved a good laugh and always had a smile on her face.  She was a devout Catholic, and a communicant of St. Peter's Church, attending Mass regularly.

After retiring, Raymond and Virginia wintered in Jupiter, Florida as snowbirds. They enjoyed spending time with their friends, playing cards, going out to dinner, and enjoying each other’s company. 

Virginia is survived by her loving children, Kathleen and Mark Smith, Ron Beerhalter, and Susan and Gary Taurisani; grandchildren, Gary Taurisani, Amanda and Crispino Velardi, Dan Taurisani and Stacy Fortnam, Ryan and Talia Gallagher, Shane and Marcella Gallagher, Karissa Beerhalter, and Kaitlin Beerhalter and Matt Hammill; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends, Sina and Bob Panetta whom she shared a close friendship with for over 65 years.  She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Furmanski and Stella Toper; and her brother, Edward Algustowski. 

Her family wishes to thank St. Elizabeth Medical Center 3C, Dr. Win, and Sitrin Rehabilitation for their wonderful care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 28 at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Church, North Utica. The family will see guests at the end of the Mass.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
